Breast milk is the best food a newborn baby can receive. There is however a critical period of learning for both the mother and newborn during the early days. The newborn baby has never had to seek out nourishment as this was previously supplied through the umbilical cord. For the mother, she is learning the logistics of how to hold her baby and position her breast in such a way that the baby can latch on properly and receive the mother's precious breast milk. There are times when everything falls into place and mother and baby have no problems with the breastfeeding process. In other instances, perhaps due to a difficult labor, the shape of the mother’s breasts, or to prematurity of the infant, that the comfort and ease of breastfeeding requires the assistance of a person trained in the art of breastfeeding.

Well Born Baby offers educational classes to prepare you for breastfeeding before your baby is born, help you adjust to feeding your newborn, and are available to answer questions or concerns while your breastfeeding at home. Our breastfeeding support service includes a 1-1 1/2 hour consultation and 3 months of unlimited phone and email support. The cost for this service is $75.
